Biography (1)

  • Md. Ashikur Rahman Avi is an academician and researcher in the tourism and hospitality industry. He has been teaching at the university level since 2017. Presently, Avi is working as an assistant professor in the Tourism and Hospitality Management department at the Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Previously, he had an appointment as a lecturer in the Department of International Tourism and Hospitality Management at Primeasia University for almost three years. Avi did both Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Dhaka. He received the “Dean’s Honor Award 2015” for his outstanding results at Master level. He also received the "Research Honor Award-2022" from Pabna University of Science and Technology for his significant contribution to tourism and hospitality research. Avi has conducted 10 research papers that are published in reputed national and international journals, and he has also contributed 10 chapters in 3 books published by Springer, Singapore and Germany. As the keynote speaker, Avi conducted a session on 'Technology Applications in Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Asia: Present Status and Future Trends' at 1st International Conference on Business and Tourism Management (ICBT-2022) organized by Primeasia University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research interests include destination development, sustainable tourism management, tourism and technology, rural tourism, marine and coastal tourism, medical tourism, tourism planning, and tourism marketing.
